James Brindley’s engineering students were a group of talented individuals, including Hugh Henshall, Thomas Dadford, Josiah Clowes, Samuel Simcock, Robert Whitworth, and Samuel Weston, who have been referred to as a “college of engineers.” They worked together to complete Brindley’s life’s work and played a significant role in developing canal and lock systems across the UK during the “Canal Mania” years. Their contributions extended from the Forth & Clyde to the Bridgewater Canal, the Trent & Mersey to the Thames Navigation, and into Wales.
