Case contains 24 pouches. 2 pouches will treat 1 deep box, 4 pouches will treat 2 deep boxes. This case treats a minimum of 6 hives. The first biological control for varroa mites! More than 10 years of development and testing has gone into the creation of this effective mite control. Trials show up to 18 weeks mite control with just one dose of Norroa™ (pronounced no-rroa like no varroa!). It is designed to specifically target varroa mites using vadescana, a new Mode of Action (MoA) for beekeeping. A RNAi ( RNA interference) treatment, it targets a protein in the Varroa mite that halts reproduction. How it works: Norroa™ targets a key protein in mite egg production. Its active ingredient vadescana, is absorbed by mites when they come in contact with it. They do this in the cell with the bee larvae before the cell is capped. No part of vadescana is absorbed by the bees. Once the mite absorbs the treatment, the mite loses the ability to reproduce, keeping mite counts low for up to 18 weeks (4.5 months). Key Points: *Not for use with Honey Supers – this is administered in syrup pouches that need to be mixed in with the brood food, meaning it needs to be applied in the brood chamber *No Temperature Dependencies – can be used anytime it is warm enough to open the hive *2 Pouches treat 1 Deep Box- for a double deep hive, you need to purchase 4 pouches *Specifically Targets Varroa Mites – No effect on queens, adult bees, or brood *ONLY STOPS REPRODUCTION – best if used on low mite counts for a continuous treatment, it does not kill adult mites only prevents the mites from increasing. Method of Application: Each dose is prepackaged in a pouch of sugar syrup. For 1 deep box, apply 2 pouches. For 2 deep boxes, apply 4 pouches. Simply place the pouch on the bottom board, between the boxes, or in a spacer shim on top of the box. Bees do need 1/2 inch space above the pouch to be able to collect the syrup. Remove any honey supers from the hive. Peel the sticker back and place the pouches in the hive. Leave the pouches on until the bees empty them. Once empty, remove the pouches and wait 1 week before replacing any supers. Treatment provides up to 18 weeks of varroa mite control.
